The air intake goes from the front of the bonnet to a chamber inside the offside wing. This causes some restriction as it's job is to reduce turbulence and reduce the intake noise. So by removing the resinator you have a air feed from the front of the car into the inner wing space and the airbox pipe open to suck the air in. You will get an increase in induction noise but the car should breath easier.
The throttle coolant delete mod is done to stop the cooling system warming up the throttle body. This results in a less dense air mass entering the intake manifold and thus the cylinders. By re-routing the piping the throttle body stays cool so not having a negative effect on the job done by the intercooler. Even though the effects of these mods may be small they all add up. If sticking with the OE ecu and MAF sensor keep to the airbox and a decent panel filter, these aer good to over 400 bhp on a newage. But if you decide to go for a front mount intercooler which includes an induction kit convert the MAF sensor to a blow through unit. All this needs is the pipe from the intercooler to the throttle body modifying to fit the MAF. If not the Lambda will be all over the place and unmappable plus a right pain at MOT time (personnal experience). Can post pictures if required.

hi mate thanks for that explanation, make sense.

however what does the resenator look like so i know what to take out of the wing?

and also any inustions on how to do the throttle coolant delete mod.

cheers

p.s. just to add to the weight reduction.. start off with the boot? tools spare tyre and all other junk will make a difference and you wont notice anything has changed on the car if its a road car

from mammory, the throttle coolant starts at the 3 ported black plastic thang that rises out of the engine in front of the turbo. It flows along the underneath/back of the inlet manifold into either side of the throttle body then onto the idle control valve iirc

Have a look and you should be able to see it. Essentially just block it up as I believe it doesn't lead anywhere that other bigger pipes don't.

The resonatot is the only big plastic thing in the inner wing, you'll see it lol

weight reduction - ally bonnet is good, don't bother with rear seats they weigh **** all, headers and decat save a good bit, smaller battery if you've got the usual JDM double-breezeblock sized one, chuck the missus out...

Thos is what Harvey says about removi g the resonator...

In my experience removing the resonator without any link pipe or remap will result in a loss of power. Because we couldn't believe the result it was repeated the following day with the same loss of power. 8 or 9 bhp from memory.

Only benefit is loss of the weight as the resonator is a bit of a heavy thing but have noticed no benefit in power terms in removing it and there can be downsides in terms of water ingress onto the air filter. I tried it on mine in the early days but wouldnt be in a hurry to do it again.

Throttle coolant feed bypass is worthwhile.

Other free mods for performance...

1 - remove the huge Sub or speaker system in the boot (if you have one - they weigh a ton lol)
2 - remove spare wheel/jack and pack some of that puncture repair spray

ie basically what DaOne said, make the car lighter.

Looks better as round light cluster becomes the "lights" & square one is the brake light.

Agree with DaOne and others on the making it lighter...

I've lost the carpet, sound deadening amongst other things.

Don't know about the newage boys but the front seats from a classic, they're a little heavy although getting decent buckets isn't cheap

ive got some aftermarket bugeye lights which i have done it too, makes my rear end look so much newer and you cant tell that the circle doesnt go through the bumper at night. if it drove past you'd just assume a blobeye has gone past if you hadnt seen the front of the car..

actually it may be more hawkeye style as i get another circle as the brake light next to it as a ring.

daytime:

night: (only pic i have not the best with just the sidelights on but you get the idea)
