Clunky Brakes
Just had my pads changed on my new age STi, front & rear. Did as i was told and drove like a good boy until they had bedded in nicely, up until when some little ****** cut me up in a civic tyre GRRRR and i had to slam on the anchors sharpish like but all seemed ok afterwards.
The following day however i noticed that my brakes seem to clunk when braking in reverse and slightly under light forward braking e.g parking speed.
Had a quick visual but everything seems in order, just the clunking.
Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated....

Mine too.
Been told that copper grease on the back of the brake pads (2 for front, and 1 on back) and whilst the pads are out, again, copper grease on the actual piston helps.
Will do this on mine next time I swop the wheels round.

It's nothinig to worry about - just the pads moving in the caliper.
When braking forwards, the pads move upwards slightly in the caliper.
When braking from reverse, the pads move down slightly.
The 'clunk' you hear is the pad moving from one extreme to the other. The small movement is a result of the loose fit of the pads to enable them to clasp / back off from the disc.

I had a this noise on my classic after I bought the car and it was driving me crazy! I eventually found that the clips that hold the brake pad in position were put in upside down!!! I would defiantly have a look at this and swap them around if needed! (look at a guide on how to change brake pads on SN for something to compare to)

Same here, standard calipers and Pagid pads….Doesn’t really bother me though. The thing that annoys me is the squeaky brakes, my car sounds like a pig being raped by a horse under light braking when moving in traffic or coming up to a junction etc....that drives me insane

Carbotech xp8 pads are the same, great stopping power, no fade, but in town traffic it's sounds like a steam train skidding to a halt.
BTW, my sti brembos clunk too
