Default Cleaning my filter

I need to clean my filter,

Ive got one of these that sits down in wheel arch.

whats best to use? Do i really need to spend £20 on this

I used to was mine in petrol followed by a good rinse with water and a night in the airing cupboard and a quick oiling before fe-fitting

Petrol? Do i need to re oil it?

Oil it? Jeez, don't you guys read the comments on here about oil from filters killing MAFs??????

I'd wash it in something like Wickes Paintbrush cleaner, the blue stuff, which is a fantastic degreaser. Rinse out with hot water, wash again in hot water with a little washing up liquid, rinse again, shake, or swing it hard to remove excess water, and leave to dry in a warm place for 24 hours.

Another tip: to save time waiting for it to dry use a hairdryer.

Not a lot of oil, but yep oil
80k in an MY99 with no fcuked engine - i did change the maf every 18 months or so though
