Default how much can my car take???

have a 2005 impreza sti and was wanting to know how much power the engine can take on standard internals and how much torque the gear box can take before taking out the car behind???
looking at fairly safe figures to aim for before going any further.
cheers.

not to sure on the engine but the box is regarded as bullet proof and can take a serious hammering i have not heard of one let go yet and i am talking 500bhp plus. albeit the engine i reckon would of gone pop by then.

take it your car is a type uk? if so i have the same car but mines is only 320bhp.

the gearboxes are meant to be unbreakable

the engines are strong aswell, they can take more than the hawkeye, to be on the safe side tho i wouldnt go past 400bhp, all depends on how you drive tbh.

you'll have to upgrade the turbo as i think it limits at 360bhp

The boxs are far from unbreakable, but can take a fair amount of abuse.

that would have been Stealthy55 (I think) running on e85 and did 553bhp and 517ftlbs, that was a few months ago now.

Uk cars have slightly cheaper selectors? well some polyeurothane crap in there compared to brass on the JDM boxes
400bhp should be nice all day long, 450 top end for reliability, 500, heard of one 2001/2002 spec c that was mapped to that and then let go, guy from scotland, car went up in flames on the motorway

yeh its a uk model. looking for around the 350 mark and same again for torque. more if possible. im realy looking for the max power on standard turbo. unless someone can give me an insight into one that has minimal lag. was looking at a jdm model but being under 25, insurance was a big no no for an import

The JDM would have been better, the MY03 onwards have twin scroll turbo's, they are virtually lagless but your vf35 is more than capable for 350bhp, you will need an uprated fuel pump and a new exhaust (3 inch) and a decent panel filter.
Check with your insurance co first, the map will set you back about 650 quid.

there are small differences which make it easier for the blob sti to make more power but setup sensibly stength wise they do similar power.

insurance wise its no problem declaring, its just i couldnt get insured full stop on an import. so looking around the 400 mark for reliability??? very low milage for its age so should be able to take it. take it a good custom map would help as well. what seems to be the best turbo back systems??? big fan of miltek but not sure if they are any good for the imprezas.
sorry in advance for more bone questions, trying to do my homework before im back in the uk and start throwing money about the place.

Lots are running 450bhp

I know of one 2003 STI that has been running 560bhp for 3-4 years, takes lots of abuse, and is still going strong.
