Default Snapped My Drive Shaft

Was out in the car yesterday, and something went wrong with the car. To be honest I thought it was clutch related, but the garage has just phoned and said it's a snapped drive shaft!

How will this have happened? I thought they were pretty strong?!

Where can I get a new one, and how much is one?

Cheers

Also, are the near and off side shaft the same, or do you need to get the correct one?

Front or rear? And have you tried breakers, Grade A are pretty good.

Plus you need to tell us full model details of the car.

Were you launching?

No, wasn't launching, I never have to be honest. I was turning right, and changed from 2nd to 3rd and accelerated away when it happened.....

Its a 2003 STI. It's a front one which has snapped.

My mate has a spare one he just informed me, but for a WRX. Are they the same?
