Car is 2000 wrx turbo uk spec, driving style is the usual, spirited driving with quite a bit of pottering about. So water spray is pointless then?
I was swaying towards sti top mount but with weather like this, might suffer a bit too much heatsoak being sat ontop of the turbo.
Does the bumper have to be modified in anyway to fit a FMIC on uk facelift?

There were no such things as UK spec WRX's until the Bugeye came in in 2001.
Your car will either be a group 17 insurance Turbo 2000 with 215bhp or a group 20 import WRX with 276bhp.
I'd make sure your insurance company know which one aswell, just incase. It would also help with regards advice on mods to your car

The purpose of the water spray is to allow it to be used after the vehicle has been stood running at the rally start line waiting for the go. It serves little purpose at other times and as already observed on auto the water tank capacity is inadequate.
Fitting the front mount will involve cutting the bumper. Might sound daunting but in reality it is not a big deal.

If your car is a classic then it doesn't exist

from andy forrest website, this would suit ure car well with the power ure after
AFP5-16 - is based on the 90 degree inlet TD05 16G from the 93-96 cars and can also be converted to front entry to suit 97 onward cars. This turbo is very popular on installations aiming for up to 340bhp. It is available as a fully re-manufactured unit or new. This turbo will typically spool up to 1 bar boost by 3000rpm and full boost by 3300rpm.
as for fmic,no point unless ure going above 400bhp which u aint so best to get an sti tmic

i think you need to weigh up the cost of getting it all fitted as well.
i've had both on my car as to start with, i did'nt like the look of the front mount (now it's a must due to running power) so went sti 8 top mount and have to admit it cost more altogether when you consider having to modify brackets and piping etc. frount mount is just a kit so comes complete and as harvey says you only really have to chop a bit out of you bumper which is not a major job as it's plastic.
will you be doing the work yourself ?
if you are have a look on the carl davey website their is a fitting guide for the sti 8 top mount onto classic cars.

Im a mecanic/body repair mate so all i do is buy parts, spoke with simon at jgm and he said he would map it for me. I have been more in body repair over last year though, thought its best to get opinion on turbo/intercoolers as any donkey can fit them but to hear experieces with them it makes a great diffrence in choosing components.
Bumper is still in stages of repair so could do that before paint and possibly put the cross peice back in to look oem but need to know how much to chop off so i can just fit the cooler streight on.
theres an andy forrest 16g on ebay, 230 i think
