STI Type R vs EVO6 vs newage STI
Ive just come home from Japfest thinking that my mind would definatly be made up and I would know exactly what Id be going out and buying but all thats happened is that Im more undecided than ever. Ive currently got a 96 wrx vltd and its my 5th Impreza (all classics). 2 UK cars one standard and one prodrive. 3 imports one 240 bhp wrx one high 300bhp wrx and now the standard apart from backbox vltd 260 bhp. As you can see I kinda like Subarus Tbh Ive always wanted a type r or P1, but Im also being drawn to the dark side and love evo 5/6's. Has anyone owned both and could you please tell me how they compared, whatever I get it would be a second car. Also in my budget would be an STI7/8. Realy like the look of these but in standard form how would they compare? I know some of you lucky people would of owned a couple of these cars so any advice on how they would compare would be welcome

yes mate it was a every day car , the evo was brill ,and bad on petrol. but the stiv5 type r was realy nice too
the evo didnt have the flat four sound and this was aother reason i got rid
i spent 800 on the evo to make it 360bhp and it did the 1/4 mile in 12.1 so it was ok
its hard to say what one i liked best but i kept the v5 so it must of been that
i would get a type r if it was me

i've only ever owned a version 5 type r mate n i looove it. i have driven my mates evo 6 and one of my other mates version 8 wrx's. i crashed my first type r pretty much cause i couldnt drive it. lol. n wen it came time to get another car i went straight back to the type r the evo was a great car n done a fair whack of the drivin for you, but i didnt like the feel of it, dunno if tht was just my mates, but my impreza felt much more planted the wrx was also a great car but for me just a little to tame i think. so i'd defo go for the type r hope you enjoy watever one you get though

If you have never driven an STI7/8 then make sure you get a good long drive first before deciding on one.
I owned an 03STI for four years and when I was finally honest with myself I preferred my classics. Yes they weren't as quick in a straight line etc. but I defiinitely felt more at home in them - I can chuck a classic around whereasthe STI never inspired the same confidence in me. All just personal opinion.
Always wanted an Evo6, but a friend had one and said the 180miles between fuel stops and short service intervals eventually did for him.
