You can buy exactly the same Mini DV camera from eBay for £16.75 with free P&P http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-DV-SMALLE...item3caca82fb8

and they all get them from China from sellers like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Mini-DV-Po...item5191497a8e

I've already got the Keyring Spycam and the Sunglasses with built in Cam. Both have built in Microphones and the quality is nothing short of superb for the money. At 720x480 you won't get 1hr of video on 1Gb, 1hr takes up 8Gb, and that's because the resolution and quality is fairly high.

Don't use crap quality MicroSD cards. Spend a bit more money on branded 8Gb or 16GB Class 6 cards for the best vid/aud capture and playback. Don't get the super cheap chinese MicroSD cards as they are fakes. How do i know...i bought two of them and have only just managed to get a refund on one of them. The other one i'm still waiting on because the seller has dissappeared off eBay. Fecking long distance sellers!!

There was a big thread on here about them. Loads of people bought one but apart from a few test vids (bit choppy but that was prob down to poor quality memory cards?) no ones posted any other vids that I've seen?

I did this vid when i first got the Sunglasses camera.

It was a huge file so i edited it and compressed it to a 10Mb wmv. The vid size is 320x240 which is considerably smaller than the original resolution.

For what i paid for this camera i think the video is great quality and the sound isn't bad either. I used an 8Gb Class 6 Transcend MicroSD card.

Don't forget to use a quality branded 8Gb or 16Gb Class 6 card. It makes all the difference and minimises frame duplication which can cause video dropout. FFS don't go anywhere near those chinese fake Micro SD cards.

I have a couple of those sandisk Micro SD cards with adaptors and a couple of Vodafone SD cards too so will give them a try.

We're heading up to the lakes next weekend so will get some footage of the Kirkstone, Wrynose and Hardknott passes if it arrives by then.

We've done the passes before in my girlfriends old car.... a 1.2 Micra, so i'm expecting the Subaru to be a little quicker up the hills!

here are a couple of short trial runs with the camera... unfortunately some quality is lost when compressing to upload to You Tube, but i'm very happy with the results for a £16 camera! The only thing i haven't sussed yet is how to change the date/time stamp. The instructions are minimal to say the least and a lot is lost in translation!

1. Attached to the brake fluid reservoir on the handlebars of my bike. The road is the B5105 which joins Ruthin with the A5. Taking it relatively steady as i was riding with a few other people.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys8OKkDI2Rw

2. Attached to the sat nav bracket in the car.. This memory card was an unbranded one from an old phone so there is a bit of stuttering when the speed increases, but gives you an idea how the camera works.. There is a bit of glare due to the sun being low in the sky and my windscreen needing a good clean! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lbclmy1Mlj4 please excuse the mild language used when farmer giles cut the corner, travelling a bit quick considering it's a pretty bad junction!

For what these cameras cost the audio/video quality is superb and they adjust quickly to to bright and shaded light conditions. The sound adjusts too so when noises are too loud it automatically turns the mic gain down. As soon as you start using a class 6 card the video smoothes right out and there is pretty much next to no frame duplication at all.

BTW small world. My eldest daughter lives in Denbigh, and i used to live both in St.Asaph and Rhuallt off the ***. I know North Wales pretty well and i used to work from Ruthin too.

Nice one

i'll have to get myself a couple of the better cards then

It is a small world.. Wales tends to be our playground of choice on the bikes. Some lovely roads around North Wales. We did a nice run last week, which took in Ruthin, Denbigh Moors, B5105 through the forest and then Bala for a brew We did go through other places that I can't say or spell too

We're off to the lakes in a bit so will capture some more footage on the tight n twisty passes up there

Just picked up one of these from the zoombits link. They have them at £14.95 with free delivery now. Also found a 20% discount code or pr20 so I only paid £11.96 delivered.

Also picked up an 8GB Transcend class 6 MicroSD for just over £12 with the discount.

got the SD card from the same place. got the Transcend card because they are a class 6 so the write speed is better. means the video quality will be improved.

Just check it. Code pr20 still works. Not sure if it has to be lowercase or not but that's what I used

These cams are a gimmick and good for a quick laugh, that's all, the quality is not too good, I used mine twice and haven't bothered since. Still for £15 doesn't really matter.
