Default 2001 WRX / STi?

Did the 2001 STi come with a 5 speed box, or were they all 6 speed?

Trying to identify my car at the moment. The model code says WRX, but it seems to have all the parts of the STi, except the 6 speed.

Also, can anyone tell me what the standard BHP figures were for both models?

Thanks

All 6 speed.
2001 cars will be JDM STI's and come as 280ps (276bhp) standard, if its any other (ie points to being a wrx) then the chances are its just a tarted up wrx.
The wrx comes with 215bhp (218ps) standard.

As Tony said the STi did not arrive in Europe until Jan/Feb 2002. Red top engine, six speed box, water sporay and semi closed deck block. Th car was 95% of the Japanese cars with only a few options different.

Overall power was down on the Jap cars to 265PS due to the extra cat and the need for stricter emisions laws.

Many WRX's are tarted up and offered as STi's but beware the Jap WRX was 250PS out of the box.

I think the applied model code and the 5 speed box you have is the give away = WRX.

I've got a Bug WRX which had had a few STi bits added over the years and if you didn't know too much about scoobies It could fool you LOL

Some idiot (dealer) near me had a bitsa advertised as an STI, to be fair the only bits missing were the engine, gearbox and rear diff.....

Every other part had been sourced and fitted. Still didn't make it worth (top) STI money, IMHO.
