My Forge header tank cap has failed....
Can anyone point me to a replacement?
I have looked on Forge's website, and searched the web for a direct replacement, but they dont seem to offer them.
Would a Sti radiator cap do the trick?
I can hear air escaping from the header cap, and see steam coming out.
Its causing me to over heat, and shoot coolant out of the expansion tank, albeit in very small quantities.
Is this because the pressure on the coolant has dropped, and its bioiling at a lower temp than if it was pressurized to the correct level?
Any advice/help appreciated chaps and chapess's

Thanks for that matey
The Sti ones are rated at a higher pressure i believe?
Would this leaking cap cause my overheating problems? Due to the pressure not being as high, causing the coolant to boil at a lower temp? Get a little bit of coolant come out of the expansion tank.
I have just fitted a new radiator, and I think when the coolant left the old rad, the pressure blew the header tank cap, but I have only just noticed.
I dont have any smoke, no other hose/coolant leaks, and no mayo in my oil, or oil in my coolant.
Just not sure if this cap could cause this, I think it can in theory but.....

Yes the leaking cap can cause overheating.
I recommend you don't buy a cheapo ebay imitation replacement (typicaly sti badged etc) as they also tend to leak after some time (seen this on a couple of these).
Worth bearing in mind the uprated higher pressure ones put more strain on the pipes etc so more chance of a failure/leak if you have old pipes.

Thanks mate, my pipes are all uprated, either autobahn88 or Samco.
I was going to go for a genuine sti one, would a wrx be a better bet if its rated at a slightly lower pressure?

An interesting topic since i recently bought a forge motorsport header tank. The tank didnt come with a cap so i used my old one and it seems to fit ok. On the other side of things tho i have had alot of trouble gettin the hoses to seal prop to the tank. I have a 55 plate WRX and ive defo got the right tank but the diameter of the tanks, lugs, seem too small for my hoses. Not sure why but its very annoying and it keeps leaking. Did your pipes connect up ok?

My pipes connected up fine (I have a MY97 Classic)
But, the new Rad cap on the Forge header tank has not cured my overheating....
I am about to change the Water Pump and Thermostat, if that doesnt do the trick, I'm looking at HG failure

Just to cap my symptoms off for futher reference...
Hot top hose - Cooler Bottom Hose
Leaking Coolant out of the expanision tank.
Coolant Warming up very quickly.
Cant go 2-3 miles (even driving like Miss Daisy) without coolant getting too hot. Engine Temps seems fine.
I have replaced so far;
Radiator and Header Tank Cap.
Will check the Thermostat and Water Pump tonight, and replace if needed.
Is this HG and I'm just kidding myself into thinking its something small and less expensive? lol.
