do i need remap after rebuild

Default do i need remap after rebuild

hi all

as some of you may know my engine let go a few weeks ago so im getting it rebuilt with nitreded crank, race bearings,forged con rods,etc,

its a 99 type r and has been remamped to produce 333bhp and im wondering would another remap be required after the rebuild?

It would definitely be worth it after spending all the money on the rebuild! You could do with a running in map as well once it's built.

would it be ok to drive the car for about 1000 miles keeping the engine below 3000 rpm then getting a map tweek?

Thats what I did when I had my Hawkeye STI motor rebuilt .

thanks for the advice

does anyone know whether its possible to have the rev limiter moved from where it is now about 8500 rpm down to about 7400rpm while getting a remap?

rev limit can be set where you like (within reason)..

it is wise to get it mapped after rebuild for a couple of reasons, firstly the changes you are making will effect the compression which will effect the required map.
Even if you rebuilt with exact items it was before the reason it failed may still be evident, say maf failure or fuel pump failure etc.

thanks i think will get the rev limiter moved because i think it was the high revs what killed the engine

that it may be but you really don't want to keep smashing into the limiter either
