do impreza pads have wear indicators?

 

yep they do. just small steel tags that rub on the discs when the pads are worn

 

rekon this is the problem??

 

Could well be> its worth checking the pads. Theres normally about 2 or 3mm left on the pad when they start to rub. as a temp fix to get rid of the noise the tags can be cut off. only 1 pad per side has the steel tag. Ofcourse ultimatly if there worn they need replacing

 

if the sound goes if i apply slight presure to brake pedal would that mean prob is defo brakes

 

impossible to say without seeing them. could be many things. Wheel bearing for instance. Stcky piston in one of the calipers, even disc backplate/stone guard rubbing on disc
