What's the quietest exhaust ..other than the Original one
Hi,
Apart from the standard original exhaust that came with the car , what other exhaust is quiet?
I did have a Prodrive backbox with the original centre on my 2.0 WRX wagon and it seemed quite deep and a bit intrusive Don't know why ..maybe I'm just getting old!
I have just changed back to a standard Hawkeye backbox ( didnt fancy the twin-peeshooter).. total silence lol! Its not the prettiest looking tho.
When I changed it I noticed it didn't have a gasket joining the 2 together.. could that have made the Prodrive 1 deeper?
As you can tell I'm ****** in the head , cant make up my mind
All I want is a quiet exhaust ..just maybe not total silence!
Should I change the centre to a straight thro?
Should I change back to the Prodrive and put a gasket on the join to the centre?
Should I do both of the above but get the centre section with a sports silencer? ( ie Scoobyworlds Afterburner with sport silencer)
Scoobynet community help me please!
Where's Powerwrx?
Steve

the gasket wont make any difference in sound..as you say the origional one is the quietest there is, but the twin exit looks poo (imo) next in line would be the prodrive ide say fitted with the stock system is as quiet as your gonna get it. i doubt youll get it any quieter than that unless you have one made to suit but as a single outlet instead of the twin.

Quiet exhausts! You may be on the wrong forum!
Refreshing change from the 'what is the loudest exhaust' threads
However, like you, quiet was something I was after on my 2.35 build. Due to the nature of the build, I'm running a fully decatted 3" Mongoose. Not sure of the db rating as not managed to get on track yet but it is so much quieter than anything else I've found. It would be quieter still as a 2.5" system or backbox only.
Frayz system is fully decatted 3" bespoke Simpsons exhaust. Nur Spec S is backbox only, hence why they are rated similar.
Good luck!

Lol .. Dont get me wrong people , I love the distinctive flat4 burble .. Having had 8 scoobs of various models with Ninjas, Afterburner Vortex , Cobra or Prodrive , I felt a change was needed , something different , plus when you do give it some beans it doesnt attract attention...stealth is best

If its quiet you want ,consider the scoobysport backbox ,very similar lines to a prodrive/ racebox backboxes ,subtle ,but a nice growl when you start giving it some.I attended a meet in solihull on sunday and there were 32 scoobs there, and mine must have been the quietest car there. I originally had an afterburner vortex on my last scoob and was determined to have another one,but they are to much in your face, really loud in std form and way to quiet with the bung in,imho

The revolution systems are pretty quiet but not sure they'll be a lot different to a STD centre and prodrive back box. Also (as mentioned) mongoose are quiet too.
I'll be going for something like the revolution or mongoose myself.
A friend had a Hayward and Scott system on his car and despite it including an open neck decat down pipe it was very quiet too. If you're anywhere near h&s they'd make you a nice quiet rear box with a pretty looking single tail I'm sure.

Ive read that an exhaust pointing down to the ground is a good way to make it quieter, you will prob need this done custom though. Redline mag had a good article on exhausts.

I heard that too, the D1 drift cars have this done for the Tokyo round because of noise restrictions in the city
