Hi
Joined today, so thought I'd say hi.
I currently drive an EVO MR FQ-340 and I'm looking for a change. I've joined a couple of sites, this being one of them, to get a feeling for the community and type of cars available for my budget (<17k).
Anyway, I've always loved the WRX fraternity, hence the EVO purchase. Its a great car but I've had it two years and its time for a change.
I'm also looking at RS4 or 6, AMGs and M-series cars for a complete change. My first choice would be a Scoobie though.
I look forward to getting to know you all soon.
Jim

Your knocking on the door of the new Sti hatch for that money mate,I came over from the evo side, never looked back, the cost of running one of these pocket rockets dwarfs the evo, good luck with your choice.

I understand the EVO and the Scoob are different motors. I'm a petrolhead, so all cars have their individual appeal to me. In an ideal world I'd have one of everything!
Thanks for the welcome
I've added a small gallery of phots in my profile so you can laugh at my EVO - be gentle with her!

Hi Jim,
I love mine, but you can build a 2.3 500 bhp monster for around £2K, that's a re-map and a manifold for a Scooby....
Honest if it's quick you want (?) keep yours and mod it.
I too would have one of each, but which would I drive
dunx

Thanks
Don't worry mate it'll come.
You can buy my EVO for 14k if you want.
You'd need 2k just to buy the 2.3, then there's the fitting and all the other bits and bobs you'd need. I don't think they'd be much change from 10k.
I am after 'quick' but really I'm after 'different'. EVOs are great but its time to move on.....
My fantasy garage definitely has one of each but it also includes a DBS, an M5, an CSL M3, any AMG. Then of course there are all the ferraris and lambos and and and.........

As others have said Spec C.
However if you want something raw - then a big power classic. If you can find one for sale and one that has been done properly and one that isnt being broken!
Having mates who have some serious EVOs
My very brief take on it.
Both cars are seriously quick
EVO better out of the box. Easier and Cheaper to get big power out off. Doesnt sound as good less involving drive. Still fun but not as fun.
SUBARU Way more expensive to get bigger power out off and also the flat 4 can be, not necessarly but can be prone to more issues. But sounds way way better and is far more of an involved drive.
The best of the lot in my book - Is a very well moddified classic. Raw, light and origonal, as subaru intended, with proper big power forged lump, six speed box, brake upgrade ect.
However to get bigger power out of an EVO is so much cheaper. My mate has just forged his stripped EVO 6 RS track monster for about 1k. He did the work himself mind.
Anyway good luck with your choice

Thanks Steve,
I'm all about 'driving experience' and I'm looking forward to testing a few Spec Cs so that I can become more involved with the driving. I think I know exactly what you mean. The EVO to me goes like a rocket and holds the roads really well - but as a driver you do tend to feel a bit detached from the whole thing - almost like being along for the ride - if that makes sense?
I used to drive a Nissan 200SX which really came alive in the wet. You could feel the limit and play on the edge to your hearts content and on the odd occasion when the back did go, you could fairly easily decide to keep it there, bring it back or just let it spin out. Don't get me wrong, I've lost an EVO too - ended up upside down in the middle of a public road. Very embarassing and quite stupid I'm older and wiser now .
So, I think I'll look at a Spec C and go from there.
Cheers

I haven't driven a scoob yet but so far the E55 is still winning over an RS6 and an RS4.
This weekend I'm looking at an XJR.

The XJR was a bit flat but soooo much cheaper than anything else I've looked at - so it probably rates as a possibility.
Tonight I get to try a 6 series.
Thoroughly enjoying all these test drives....if only I could own the lot :-0
