Question ENGINE KNOCKING

i let my mate take my car, and he bought it back off the m62 with a popped bottom end.

its rattling its **** off and i really do not want to spend another £1150 getting it reconditioned, nor do i want to giv it to some cowboy.
ive been looking all over for a strong bottom end, no1 close enough to bother with has 1
what do i do?

its a race tuned engine and i miss driving it, its been off the road for a good month now!!

I'd be inclined to get your "mate" to foot the bill, or atleast half of it!

Sounds like he was trying out its top speed...

i know what you mean but, i havent told him but it was partly my fault as i hadnt topped up the engine oil which i meant to to do that day.

i would make him contribute towrds the bill but he gave me the car for free in the 1st place!

So the recon engine that you paid £1150 for didn't last very long, shock horror there then.

Your looking at a around £2.5K for a standard rebuild or a £4K for forged one, plenty of trusted places on here: Scoobyclinic, API or engine turner to name a few

man thats bad news thats why my mates never drive my car its a heart breaker when your bottom end goes as you know you wont see your car for a while and it will put a whole in your pocket, every time before I take the scoob out I always check my oil and coolant and just to be safe I always check my drive for liquids.

Look on the bright side your car will come back stronger and before you know it you will be enjoying it soon enough. Don’t bother with reconditioned engines as you just dont know what the engine has been through. just get your self an engine built from scratch you get peace of mind. I went to engine tuner last year they done me a brilliant deal on drive in drive out. Give alan and martyn a shout best of luck
