STi best all-rounder judges Autoexpress
#1
This is what AutoExpress said on the new Scoob Imp STi:
"Subaru Impreza STi"
"On a winding cross-country road, the Mitsubishi EVO VII is one of the fastest cars we have ever driven. In terms of its high-speed cornering stability, grip and poise, very little comes close. However, its harsh ride and small fuel tank mean it is too compromised for everyday use. The Impreza STi is less reliant on electronic gadgetry for its turn of speed, making it a much more involving car to drive. It's more practical too, so will appeal to a broader range of motorists than the raw EVO VII. While both Japanese fliers are spectacular demonstrations of what can be achieved with hi-tech gizmos and well set-up suspension and four-wheel-drive systems, it's the STi-tuned Subaru which is victorious."

Hi All!
Although absolutely and totally impractical as an everyday car (not to mention the cost!) it would've been fun to compare both to the Prodrive P2000 / S44 or the MMR Evo 6.5 / 7 rally cars in tarmac stage setup... most people don't seem to appreciate just how much difference there is between a WRC and a roadcar....
Anyway, hat off to STi, well done... now all they gotta do is not only be the best combination, but also be the fastest over British roads....
Cheers,
Pat.

Interestingly enough, Subaru Japan has now release the Impreza STi "S Edition" which has the entire sound system removed, no air conditioning, and no power anything (door locks, mirrors, windows, etc.).
This is set up to go directly against the EVO VII for pricing.
Cheers.
