Glad i found this place!
I've always wanted a Subaru since the first time i heard that flat four rumble Insurance and running costs have always been an issue, but now that I am older and possibly a bit wiser, I've decided it's time to get into either a Forester S Turbo or an Impreza WRX wagon.
I did some insurance quotes on the net and Go Compare came up with the best one, which was £835 with The green company. That was high compared with what i'm used to and the excess was pretty large too!
Anyway, after having a nosey around the forum, I decided to try A-plan and they have quoted me £700-750 with around £300 excess. Still high compared with what I normally pay, but not quite as bad as I thought it might be.
As a rough guide, I'm 32 have had my licence (always been clean) for 15 years and I have 9 years no claims. The car will be kept on my driveway and I'll do around 9000 miles a year.
We went to have a look at a 2001 Impreza WRX in black the other day and even my girlfriend said "ooooo i like that". Normally, the best I get out of her is "yeah, it's alright" so I'm onto a winner really! Sadly, the car we looked at had caught someone elses eye an hour or 2 before us and they had put a deposit down on it. Still, I'm sure another car will come up soon.
The forum has also given me an idea what to look for and also explained what a bugeye is! Turns out, the bugeye is the model I quite like, even though they don't seem to everyones taste.
Might still end up with a Forester yet, but i'm being pulled towards the Impreza at the minute

Thank you for the welcomes
I thought i could have got it down to around £5-600 but for some reason i'm struggling a bit. I had a 2.8 BMW Z3 and a 2.8 BMW 5 series before the Mini, which i told them about at A-plan. The Mini was £600 this last time so must be the area! I live in Warrington, but have normallymanaged to get insurance for £500 or less, no matter what I have driven.
The bike's great... It's a 2005 Speed Triple 955i. I wouldn't swap it for anything! Well, maybe a matt black 1050 Speed Triple

Thanks very much for all of your comments.. Will have a ring around and see what I can get. At least I know I can get insurance at a price that isn't too crazy now.
Just got to find a car now! Does £4500 sound reasonable for a 2002 WRX wagon with 60000 miles on the clock? There's not much out there to compare it to at the moment
