Depends on what you want! Dont have personal experience of the type r but I have had an 03 sti ppp and currently a P1 (sort of type r lol) among others.

The 03 feels the more modern car and then the 06 one even more so (stating the bloody obvious I know) but I would say the P1 is by far the better drivers car! I adore it and I have had many many cars.

The combination of special edition (looks of admiring glances rather than unwelcome attention in the main) and fabulous feel (lighter weight) and more predictable handling in the wet (but I might just be a pants driver) make it a pleasure.

The P1 is the only car I have kept for more than 2 years and now I never plan to sell it, but you do have to take measures to make them 100% if not already done.

Hope this helps
