Default Need Help please........... I've ripped 2nd gear

Hi,

As sods law has it I've stripped 2nd gear today. Its completly gone and the box is blend it around. It happened only 2 miles from home so i nursed it home and parked it up. I was going to replace the clutch soon although I had no inclination to change the gearbox.

Anyway Its a 2001 UK300 PPP with the standard 5 speed box. I have every intention of selling the car this summer if this hadnt happened. Anyway Im just after some advice to what my options are please? I dont intend on spending a great deal and I dont want a bodge job. I was also considering whether breaking the car was a good idea or not?

Its running with the below:
  • rebuilt engine July 2009
  • VF30
  • STI Pinks
  • STI TMIC
  • Walbro
  • decat up
  • decat full 3"
  • Ported Headers (not yet fit)
  • Mapped by Andrew Carr
So all in all no more than 350bhp

Any advice would be great..... can i fit a 6 speed STI box? will a Classic box fit and be ok?

Thanks
Rob

The six speed conversion will not be cheap.......I'd either go for a reconditioned exchange unit or simply get the box rebuilt as OEM.

I knew soneone who broke an impreza and had bits all over the house for months LOL

So thats the 6 speed out of the window then. Is there anyone you would recommend for the rebuild? or recon exchange?

Thanks

a mate of fitted a gearbox of a hawk eye 2.5 wrx, after he killed his with the 20g turbo on it, if you go for that type of box make sure you get everything as the clutch, flywheel and shafts are different.

Ah ok, Then I'll let you know if i break it.

Ring Andy @ scoobyteknx though mate. I'm ringing as i know they were soon stripping some mods of a UK300 to put back to standard that inc a carbon bonnet, forged engine and box etc. I just recall them telling me around a month ago so fingers crossed they have a 5 speed oem box

Don't break it for the sake of a £300-500 gearbox.

Plenty of cars around breaking so easy enough to pick up another 5 speed and stick it in.

My mate had as a UK300 like yours, similar spec but with loads od suspension mod's including AST's.

He had his rebuilt by Scoobyclinic with a better clutch and stronger gears. Running 345 bhp and no issues now.

Cheers Guys.

Think I spat the dummy out last night and again this morning. Frustration is obviously getting the better of me. I've already got too much on at the moment and this is just icing on the cake.

I phoned Brian @ Scoobyteknix who is going to sort it for me next week (a morning job he says). So Clutch change at the same time....
