my dads volvo has a problem
can anyone give any advise please. he has a 53 plate S80 D5 auto. he has an intermitant problem in that every now and then you go to pull away from a standstill and itll drive away but then holds a steady 20 mph with no more power coming through. when it does this, 'kickdown' has no effect.
pumping the accelerator, slowing down and accelerating again doesnt clear the problem. the problem only clears when you pull over, stop, switch off and restart.
what does this sound like to you lot.

my mate had the same sort of problem but his e.m light came on as well.
when he took it in they said it was the ecu. dont no if this will help u but good luck getting it sorted

They have electronic throttles, which are prone to problems. Not sure it applies to your model, but sounds like it to me. Volvo had recalled some models, with software updates. Check here:Volvo Forums - Powered by vBulletin
