Ive heard a few people say about flames coming out the back pipe - when i was giving it some serious welly the other day (see Corvette thread :-), as i approached the red-line in each gear and changed up I got a nice loud crack/ bang from the exhaust each time i changed - now obviously i cant see the back of my car when driving, so the question is do flames tend to accompany these bangs? Car is a 95WRX running on ESSO super and millers booster.
Any info appreciated!

Mate of mine following me one day (a bit too close ) reported flames out the back of my93WRX with Full Scoobysport exhaust and Optimax. Hehehe. this is of course highly illegal, and I have since had it fixed changed from 2nd to 3rd at redline, loud crack also heard...

I think its when excess fuel is dumped though the exhaust, would be pleased to hear a more precise explaination though.
