Er I think you're all missing the point, thats how it came out from the Subaru factory in Japan.
Underneath it's fitted with a higher spec vf28, had 300bhp out of the box and came standard with race ready suspension.
May not be easy on the eye, but unlike most of the chavved up bodykits on cars, the kit actually improves performance as every part from front to rear bumper was designed to flow air up and increase downforce.
£13k doesn't seem bad for the rarest Impreza ever built, even rarer than a 22b!!

Admittedly not the best looking car but as for a technological exercise it was spot on Thankfully the started to learn with the S202 then got it perfect with the S203 and S204

Been for sale a very long time. I know the owner who owns Daitoku imports, Was only there yesterday speaking to him about this car , I think he realises how ugly it is, but its the rarest classic shape scooby in britain, so im guessing it has its appeal(even though its not its looks)

I believe they only made 300 and judging by the amount of spare parts I have seen for sale over the years there cant be too many left.
Jap performance have one for sale too, As above: Very Ugly, very plastic looking, Very very rare.
If your a style over substance kinda person (like me) this is never the car for you, if your are more about driving then by all accounts its a steal at £13k

They got it perfect with the S202 that was based on the Spec C of the time but without the DCCD, these were the first cars that subaru made that acutally exceeded the power limit of 280ps (they were officially quoted as 320ps, no other subaru was actually quoted higher than 280ps before that), the S203/204 were not based on the Spec C but on the heavier STI chassis though I would still have one but the S201, it was just an exercise in "we can do this" really, and they made it look damned ugly

I agree about the abhorrent looks of the S201 as well. It may have been a triumphant technical exercise but I think they bypassed the styling department.
The S204 is a stunning car as I regularly see one in the flesh, but I did not know they and the S203 are based upon the JDM STi and not the Spec C.
