Default Had Coilovers fitted today !!

Ok had my AST coilovers fitted today, car looks great feels good but the rear lefthand one makes a loud clonking noise going over a half decent bump. Do you reckon it has been fitted incorrectly or a problem with the coilover itself ??

Any suggestions are much appreciated

Lee

Nope was'nt that it's a much louder thump which sounds like it's hitting up into the car when hitting a bump.

My Type R had the same problem, every so often the coilovers would come slightly loose. Tightening them up did the trick (for a bit of time!)

Hope this helps.

Sorry for stating the obvious but shouldn't you be sending the car back to whoever fitted them to say the job hasn't been done properly and you want it sorted.

You are right to point that out but the place i got them done is 70 miles away and had them put on there cos i was in the area at the time plus they were a friends fathers garage so they hav'nt filled me with confidence so thought i would try and sort myself first before driving all that way back

Mine does the same. MY04 STI with AST coilovers fitted by Powerstation. The car has only done a few K miles on them.
I spoke with the previous owner of my car who always thought it was normal? I spoke with Powerstation who said it may need raising slightly as it does sit low at the back.
I adjusted the collet 3 turns and it doesn't appear as bad now.
Really easy to do and no special tools. You can even do it with the alloys still on, just jack the car up at the rear diff.
Let me know how you get on.

They are AST's, this is what AST's are known for...... knocking prefusely!! I have them on my car and they had to be rebuilt after 8K miles, sent back to powerstation who turned them around in a day which was nice! Back on the car, 1 month later knock knock euurgghhh!!

The suspension handles brilliantly so I just put up with it now.... Found turning the music up makes the knocking go away

Well myself and Mike L had the offending coilover off today took it apart cleaned it up reset the spring put it back on and...................still knocking, gggrrrrr, when looking at the spring and setting it into the top mount the spring doesnt appear to sit into it very well poosibly a design fault thus causing the knocking, anyway going to see if it settles down a bit then take it from there.
