1st Scooby - Which is better deal?
Your thoughts on this would be appreciated
Looking to buy my 1st WRX this weekend, I've had an Evo 3 before many years ago and have been driving a Forester S Turbo for the past few years.
I'm looking at 2 cars right now:
Car 1 - Independant used car dealer
2004 WRX, 42k miles, 12 MOT, 6 Tax, FSH up to 39000mls (up to 35000 by subaru, 39000 service by this dealer), dealer will carry out the big 50k service (or I will get price reduced to do it), STI seats, roof scoop, totally standard everywhere else.
3 previous owners
Asking price £8500 (have haggled him down to 7800 so far)
3 months dealer warranty (no broker just direct to dealer(well thought of in the area)
Car 2 - Private Sale
2005 WRX, 46k miles, 2 MOT, 2 TAX, FSH, just had big 50k service and new pads and discs, STI Spoiler, PPP fitted from new, Prodrive de cat exhaust, Andy forrest remap to 285bhp, 18" inovit alloys.
He's had it for 4 years.
Asking price £8000
Car 2 looks like a better buy I think just for the extras and the obvious money spent but I'm no mechanic so if I buy a dummy I've got no comeback.
I had a drive Car 1 today, seemed reliable, no obvious noises, wobbles etc. The dealer did say that the ABS light comes on every now and then due to the STI seats being fitted - Is this right or should I be concerned?
Also, if I get car 1 I suppose I could go to a Scooby specialist to inspect the car and then return to dealer to fix under warranty if anything found, Am I in my rights to do this or do I have to break something first?
Which car would you lean towards??
Just interested in people opinions
Cheers
Dave

Ouch! both are over priced if you ask me, you can be hitting STI territory for that (same year, for 700 quid more you can even get a lower mileage MY05 STI )
Example here
Subaru : Subaru Impreza STI 55 reg PPP 305+ bhp
The rest depends on what you want, but they are overpriced by about 2k if you ask me.

i'd go for no'2, you know who's had it for the last 4 years & just had a major service + extras( you'll prob end up fitting these youself on the other car). try get him/her 2 mot it & haggle it down !
agree with tony though, both overpriced !

Cheers for the heads up, I think I'll hold off on the 2004 until I can see the 2005 model on friday night and do some haggling, I think he lives near AWD in Perth so I'll see if they'll give it the once over for a small fee, he might even get his servicing done there, I'll look into it.
