Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advice as to what mod I should do next to improve my vehicle's performance. I have a MY99, and my current mods include a Pod filter, 3" exhaust and 17" rims. I am thinking of increasing my boost from its stock level to about 16 psi. Is this recommended. Also, which is a better method doing the above, using a bleed valve, or using an electronic boost controller.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Theres plenty of info on electronic boost controller stuff in drivetrain forum. Personally I think you are playing with fire though.

cheers

That is my personal opinion. The engines are not strong enough in standard form to take big boost, you need to seriously beef up the internals, FMIC, good engine mapping hardware etc etc etc. Yes if you have a budget otherwise I would stay clear.

Depending on how much power you are looking for. 20-30bhp then a decat and filter will probably be close to that.

Cheers

Thumbs up

...I beg to differ Chrispy.

I'm running 1.3 on a MY00, with a Link, VF24 and an FMIC (and the standard run o' the mill Scoobysport zorst)...still not an issue.

Bare in mind though that our cars are individuals...and we all treat them differently...so what might work for my car...U get the drift.

A dawes set moderately seems to be stunning VFM, next step is Unichip/Link...then on to bigger turbos, FMIC.. (clutch will go pearshaped somewhere here...).

Prepare for a neverending spiral of upgrades - it's great fun though.
