let me pick your knowledgeable brains....
right,
i have a 2000 shape classic saloon, need a towbar, the local breakers have one but its off a p plate impreza wagon,
will it fit?

Yes mate.
But be careful: you now need a type recognition plate on any towbar, or it'll fail it's MoT, IIRC.
If the breakers have the electrics, get those too: they plug in behind one of the rear lights, don't let them cut it off. They are ££££ to buy too
