At Last, Subaru Found!!!!
In November last year I decided to sell my 2001 WRX imprezza with full wrc kit in absolutely fantastic condition. Due to my work commitments I needed something a little more petrol friendly and professional for business meetings.
I was finding that if I took my subaru to any site visits it would consists of questions flying my way about the car. I did not have a problem with this at all but needed people to see me and not the car. If that makes sense.
So I decided I would sell the car and it sold within days as I knew it would do. Then I bought a Clio Sport. Really not a bad little car, pretty nippy, good on petrol, did not spend a thing on it.
However after buying the clio I knew I should have never sold the imprezza and so started to look in December for a new one. This time I decided to go for the classic shape as in my opinion it does not seem to age. My colour preference was white and silver, preferrable white. Over the course of three months I have seen loads of subaru's and was finding myself getting frustrated with the lack of good example never mind excellent examples.
This is another story but I went to view a WRX 1998, although stated "1999" in the advert in "mint condition". When I arrived I just knew the car would be a wreck as he had not even bothered washing it down. I had travelled a long way so decided to have a look anyway. When looking round the car there was a white dust on the boot just infront of the spoiler. With out even asking the guy stated "don't worry about the dust, thats just the tile grout, i used to seal it" The best of it was that he appeared to think this was normal. Trying to keep a straight face I politely said I would be in touch. Needless to say I never rang back.
Anyone getting to the point where I thought I would never find one, yesterday I travelled to North Wales, about three hours drive from where I live and found the best Classic Version 6 STI I had ever seen and guess what in my ideal colour White. Took it for a test drive and exchanged cash there and then. After the long journey back with a massive smile on my face it drives really well. I was Lucky enough to find one with a mature owner, full subaru history. The only problem for me at the minute is the exhaust as both cats have been removed and it is silly loud. Aparently the Welsh MOT is not as strick as English MOT. Not sure how true that is, but I know I won't get it through at MOT where I live.
Does anyone know where I can buy the cats from and what price I should look to paying? Or does anyone know how to get through an MOT with no cat, or is it just a case of knowing someone in a MOT garage.
I will post some pictures of new and old later today if I get time. Once again a happy subaru owner. And to make it better it snowed through the night so going to be a fun drive into work. No more getting stuck in my clio sport.

You can pick them up on ebay mate for pennies, as everyone removes them. I peronally would just replace the cat to the turbo, and leave the middle one. It will still pass the MOT like this and it will retain some of the extra horses .
Good Luck with it.

AdamMole You have just made me well jealous! I bought from new and still own a modified (by me) an 03 WRX. But there is one type of Subaru i really love, and that is the Classic, in white. Well done and enjoy it. I took it as my one chance to buy a new car but boy do i love white classics. If i see an unmolested Classic they look and sound awesome. For some reason i just think they sound better than a new age Subaru! LOL.
But in white, i am drooling. Superb choice!!

Nice one adam ,it just goes to show that if you are patient enough ,and prepaired to look around you can find some really tidy motors out there.Reading your post reminded me ,of when i bought my car - 3 months i spent looking at different classics and when the 62 year owner produced fsh and receipts for even the tyres which he bought from subaru ,the deal was done before i drove it.
If your car is way to loud for your liking the fitting a quieter backbox may be the way to go; if you can not find a 'friendly' mot station ,then just fitting the primary cat as tony has suggested will see your car pass its mot with ease.

Old:
New:
Have a few bits and bobs to remove: i.e. Sun Visor and possible rear tints. Not really for me. Will be getting them done over the weekend and will then post some new Pictures.
Let me know your thoughts people..., I am thinking of getting the wheels painted in black or dark grey.

both STI replica's. I wish I could afford the insurance on proper one's. Was looking for a proper sti but all the one's I saw were in terrible condition. I guess you have to start some where.

mate there are alot more replicas than you think,
oct 08 i had a 94 sti import, then the hugest shock of my life running it,
so i demoted down to a gti 6 306, but then finding out some good news that my mrs was expecting, was the perfect excuse to the mrs we need a 5 door, hence my sport lol, which to be honest as you know theres not many things that give it away apart from rear drums and the headers, which can both be interchanged
heres mine

I'm confused Adam
You had a WRX with STI kit on it, sold it and bought a Clio sport..got bored and now are getting a classic sport.
that's 220bhp-180odd-125
You sure you really want to?
Edited to add:
arhh worked it out, your Bug WRX was a 2.0 GX with bodykit also... makes sense now .. why didn;t you just say that? It was a nice conversion, no need to tell white lies...
Would have thought the clio sport would still be more fun though....unless that was a 1.2 clio with a sport bodykit
