Happy new scooby mate

Once you've got it,
a: purchase a knocklink or similar. Det KILLS thses engines (2008>)... a few have died due to ringland failure, most probably caused by the massive pre-detination forces on the lighter (and not as robust) hypercast pistons.

or

b:get it mapped slightly richer by one of the trusted mappers here, thus removing the DET threat to a large degree.

There is still a huge debate on what actually causes the ringland failure, either it's just the hypercast pistons are too weak for the job, or it's the OEM map causing lean mixture zones, creating pre-detination and the piston's are then cracking.. (the yanks say the 2007 STI is just as bad BTW, but their fuel (can be argued)is a lower quality than here)...... I'm hoping the latter, and some mappers share this theory.

Always run it on Shell Optimax or Tesco 99..avoid BP ultimabollox

Otherwise enjoy....you will love it

Dunc from Dynamix also "suggested" Ultimate wasn't very good from his experiences.

Limited

**** - thats an understatement

I'm seriously considering buying a 330S
Infact there's a 330S available for a test drive tomorrow
I don't know what colour it is, but I don't think I would be buying that particular car anyway (mileage dependant especially)

Any 330S owners care to make some comments about the car in general?
What did you go from for example
Did you get any discount?

All the reviews I've read seem to make it pretty clear that the 330S isn't worth the extra money

i went from an rb320 to a 330s, the rb wins on looks but the 330s wins on everything else.
the car previous to the rb was an exige which in my opinion beats everything else for looks anyway..........

Seconded on the Exige... one of the best looking cars out there and a hoot to drive.

How would you compare the drive to the RB320
I suppose its quite similar being 2.5ltr in both cases

I imagine with me coming from a remapped MY05(2.0 ltr) STI it'll be completly different.
MY05 in its remapped form literally pins you to the seat when on boost.

How about comfort - is it really firm suspension with the uprated springs?
What about the recaro seats.
Are they as tight as people say and more importantly what are yours wearing like?

Cheers,
Shaun

The 2.5 "feel" is totally different to the 2.0 Shaun

The surge comes in lower and harder, then tails off faster.

Not as extreme as a diesel for example, but you know what I mean...

I went also from a RB320 to a 59 plate Hatch, best choice i have made as the new Hatch is a far more capable car. Not got the 330s as i am modding the car the way i want & not overly impressed with the leather on the factory fit Recaros anyway.

Good cars
