Default Red hot wheel....

On the way to have a new bumper fitted to my scoob on monday i have an accident and on the way back from picking it up yesterday something goes wrong with the steering.

The front end of the car felt all wobbly and when i braked the car pulled sharply to one side and the Wheel is red hot, and i mean hot enough to take your skin off.

I think i have a brake problem but have no idea at this stage what is is.

Any suggestions?

And while we are at it, what are the bits called that sit in the hole underneath the front indicators in the bumper?

Not necesarily, a strip down and rebuild usually does the trick you can buy seal kits.

Had the same thing!! Garage tried sorting them a couple of weeks ago and solved it but now it happened again so the Scoob is in at the moment having the 2 rear calipers replaced. Should have it back in an hour - fingers crossed

I am going to look up caliper prices.

I have noticed that the last few weeks this wheel has been a lot dirtier and the dirt really caked on. I spose it would have done this if it was getting hot, the dirt was welded to the wheel.

Snap, think thats just the brake dust where they are lock on- the 2 rears on mine fitted are working out at about £200 - - not bad considering Subaru wanted £480 for each caliper without fitting and the cheapest I could source the parts were £110 each. Bythe way mines a 99 uk turbo

I have tried to find my callipers but its not looking cheap.

I have someone out there atm looking at it. Mine is the front offside.

I thought the steering had gone. Everything started to wobble when i hit over 30mph. Luckily mine is non turbo

vents? grilles? not sure really but here's some on ebay, can't cost that much surely but judging by the bids maybe so? part no's on the listing so a quick call to a garage should find out

Thats the bits, thanks H

I called Subaru earlier but they are £20 each. I am going to have to put black in if i get them now. I didn't realise they were separate from the bumper

IIRC the orange is painted on, cleaned up with thinners they're black underneath testing the old memory now, so that might not be 100% right

Still not going to pay £20 each side. I will see if any cheaper ones come up.

Mine did exactly the same thing.

Pulled up and red hot wheel and some smoke!

It could just be the pads sticking in the carriers (mine was)

Stripped them down, pads out, wire brushed all the brake dust and corrosion out, then a bit of copper slip on the sliders and no more probs.

Much easier thatn getting new callipers
