Ive been looking for ages for a front mount that require very little in the way of bumper change for the bugeye version. seems such a shame to chop up the prodive bumper as they look pretty good

The STi Top mount is pretty good so an FMIC not always necessary

Prodrive + stealth = cool

P.S. You only need to cut the "textured" bit that's mostly behind the no. plate !

Your question!!
That thread will be subscribed to by hundreds of SN bugeye owners.
Also suggest maybe having a look at Frayz's thread on here which might give you some ideas.

As for pro's and con's, as far as I know, they are:

Top mounts suffer from heat soak in hot conditions and become less efficient the hotter the engine bay gets, hence the I/C spray on the STI models.
Front mounts suffer far less from that problem but the trade off is that because there is more pipework to plumb one in you can potentially suffer from more turbo lag.

Some threads I have read in the past would seem to suggest that you can go up to around 350-375bhp before you need to seriously start considering a front-mount.
If you're not trying to make big figures (and from your original post it doesn't look like you have made any serious big power mods) you might want to reconsider going down this route as it involves chopping up your bumper etc etc.

If you're planning on running an uprated turbo, bigger injectors etc etc then it might be worth some thought, but you also don't say whether the car's a WRX or an STI bugeye - WRX engine would probably let go if you start getting into the mid-late 300's unless you're very lucky.

Remember that the Litchfield Type 25s at 450BHP run top mounts and std airboxes! Most if not all FMICs require induction kits, many require the removal of the A/C to fit the pipework.

I did not have to remove the AC on my bugeye when I fitted the FMIC. Had a remap a couple of weeks ago to get upto 416 bhp and the pipework was very cold. Yes the TMIC may cope but would the cooling be as good? Also I don't have the same issue with heat soak.

The limits of a forged motor mean air intake temps are less critical to reach a given power level, just 'cos you can doesn't mean it's the best solution....

IMHO

P.S. Showing off is for kids...

oh ok, well its a wrx that i have. although im not going for a major amount of power i am going to be adding abit more in the way of mainly just bolt on items.

made the mistake of too much power with my last car to the point where it was a pain just to get into the car and drive without the worry of something breaking.

so with this project im keeping it fairly simply, a nice look, the ability to get it turn the keys and drive.

mods wise anything over 300 is ok with me. well for now..... lol
