Default how many ? and how much ?

hi all

looking to buy a uk 2000 turbo with 108 on it

was just wondering people with the above cars how many miles are on yours ? and how many miles are the engines good for ?

also if the engine were to go how much is a rebuild going to set me back ?

thanks

An engine rebuild would end up costing more than you paid for the car i would think.

depends on mods done bodywork and chassis condition car with that high mileage likely need a clutch and flywheel if not already done and gearbox be showin signs of alot o wear ...BIG BUCKS... id go for a early wrx or sti stronger and faster and better for tuning purposes ..uks r lower bhp, a new ngine or good rec cond in region of around 1600 mark
hope this helps ..there expensive but worth it mate

5K will get you lot better than a uk turbo with that mileage. Have a look on pistonheads or the likes.

There are plenty of import / dealers that sell on pistonheads that have cars around your budget. I am sure they will be able to arrange finance. Just make sure that you get the car looked over by somebody who knows these cars so you dont end up with a dog.

A good friend of mine has a 2001 WRX with 195,000 on the clock he has had the car from new and has never ever had a problem with it , he said his secret to the engine being in such condition is that he changes the oil every 5,000 miles, he commutes from nottingham to france 3 or 4 days a week and trust me he likes to get his foot down so it may be fine if its been well looked after mate, good luck with it.

My MY99 UK turbo has just turned 106k. I've had it 2 years and got it showing 78k. Full service history and had been owned by two previous owners. Oil changed every 6k, cambelt and all followers done at 90k.

Had it MoT'ed last week and it needed nothing, that's two years in a row.
Garage said it was totally solid underneath, only expenditure has been on a new set of tyres every year plus discs and pads all round.

The car does get hammered occassionally but only when fully warmed, and it still pulls like a train. It uses no oil between changes and no water either.

I'm sure there are many other people with similar stories about their Classic Imprezas.

There are good condition higher mileage cars out there it's just a case of doing all the checks.
