sad news
got to agree with the comments though why mention high powered ,when any car can crash and at any speeds regardless of power and doesnt mean the driver was nailing it
feel for their family

very sad
power of the car is not a factor, note that the picture is of the lower powered subaru AND NOT the higher powered turbo (no disrespect to sport owners BTW)
how many times do you travel the motorway at 70 and a people carrier fly's past you WITH A BABY ON BOARD notice in the window? i/we (i hope) 'push on' when were on our own thats what the car is for but when i have kids in the car NOOOOOO!

so sad..... the fact that there is a tree and a concrete culvert structure on the edge of the road is fking ludicrous and the reason they did not survive this accident. the government take enough money from motorists to pay for barriers at any life threatening obstruction at the side of high speed roads. they have to do it on motorways, so why not 60mph a-roads..... iirc it costs near to a million for every RTA death.

Shame,Does it makes any difference which model car somebody has had an accident in, that is the last thing that should be taken in to consideration here, lets hear FACTS not crap!!!!! what a shame the media feels this way, if this person had been in a 1960's classic car would they have been made to feel like a high performance hot head driver I don't think so !!!! I feel for the family and can not imagine the hurt they are feeling!!! God Bless

It is indeed very sad, but I know this road and it is very hard to understand how the driver could hit a tree so hard on the wrong side of the road with such tragic consequences.
No doubt the police, whose Bicester motorway patrol base is just off this road and the probable reason one of their officers happened upon the accident, will work it all out in due course.

The company I work for prints the Daily Mail up in Newcastle, believe me I will be having words! it was only the other week a Evo was caught doing 107mph on the motorway, but they claimed it was a subaru impreza, had a word and a few days later had a retraction! They only do it to sell papers, shocking but thats business i'm affraid!

Very sad to hear about this.
The press are just the same over here on the continent. Whenever there is an accident, they jump to the conclusion that "high speed" was involved. All the statistics show that in-attentive drivers, and a failure to look out for other road users are the usual reason for collisions.
I find it especially unfair and insulting that the press are giving the car and driver the blame. Since the officer arrived later on the scene, he cannot conclude that this was a solo accident.
Maybe another road user cause the Impreza to swerve?
