GC8 STI with VIN JF1GC8...?
Hi,
Are there any Impreza STIs (94-00) with the long (twelve-place) european VIN (JF1GC8.....) - or do they all have the eight-place japanese VIN (starting with GC8....)
Thanks,
Rudi

Thats right. JDM vehicles have a short chassis number, not a seventeen character VIN. An STIs applied model number (not a unique number, also found on the chassis plate) will start and end as follows: GC8*4ED (or 4DD if its an STI Type-RA).

European cars have to have a VIN. The P1 was type-approved, so Id be extremely surprised if they carried a completely unsuitable JDM chassis number.

I cant really answer that, as I havent ever owned a UK car. Id expect the Classic SportsWagons to be identified as GF8 though, as this is Subarus model code for two litres Imprezas (and GC8 is the code for two litre saloons). JF1 is the WMI code for Subaru / FHI's vehicles, so all VINd vehicles VIN will start with this prefix.
