Default Blitz Nur Spec R

Anyone got one, and do you rate it? I know it is supposed to be a little loud, but then there is a baffle that can be fitted for long boring motorway driving.

I'm after a new system, and quite fancy one of these.

Cheers.

Matt.

Hi Matt - I have just fitted one to my type R - sounds lovely, it is quite loud but to be honest I had another 3 inch system on my car (unsure of make) and that was louder. However the blitz gives it more of a Subaru sound if you kinda get what I mean but yeah highly recommended and if you baffle it then that helps on motorways but to be honest I would not bother putting the baffle on!!!! I drive all week in my boring van so nice to drive something that sounds totally different and quite loud!

Got mine delivered from Scoobyworld who were one of the cheapest at the time.

I run mine with no cats & find it a bit over bearing with the bung out to be honest. But that's probably due to the fact that I drive mine near enough every day. I run 90% of the time with it in. It's nice to have the option though as I got JGM to check the car was running ok with the bung in & out at last mapping session.

Hi Matt

What year Impreza do you have? We can do good prices on the Blitz Nur Spec R systems.

Thanks

The nur spec is by far the best exhaust for the flat 4 rumble i have one on my classic i paid £490 from scoobyworld and £25 for the cone gasket, agreed it is loud i run mine with the bung in the week cus i leave my lil cul de sac at 6 in the morning to go to the gym and i run it without on the wkend.
Also they sit on a nice angle

they do sound good, but loud, depends on the individual i suppose, if you like a lot of attention and annoying the neighbours then get one.

I know a few guys with them and they are loud! Sounds lovely, but too loud for me personally, my H&S annoys the neighbours enough!

I find it too loud for day to day use and it will soon be worse when I get the ported headers and sports cat fitted. That is without the bung though, once the bung is fitted it is great for sedate(:eek) day to day running about, and then a 2 minute job to remove the bung for meets and hooliganing about

I have to say that the Blitz NR is a little louder than my old setup (Afterburner back and centre) but inside it's not very loud for me
Maybe it's because the newage cars have more soundproofing or something.

Because cabin noise is not that loud I find that if you don't want to listen to the drone on the motorway just turn up the radio... that always does the job for me

Have had my nur spec r for about a year now and have never run it with the bung in.

Got mine sound tested at work today with a calbrated DB meter. Got it tested because me and a couple of friends are heading to the ring at the end of may, cant wait! Have heard that there is a sound limit of 95DB for the ring. They conduct random tests with the car @ 3000rpm standing 1mtr from the back of the car.

I have a STI WR1 with prodrive sports cat and blitz from there back

Test results
without bung 98DB
with bung in 92DB

Is there anyone on hear been to the ring and been on the track with there blitz?

thanks for all the comments, was also considering the HKS System, but I prefer the look of the Blitz system.

Keith, I've PM'd you the details. Tried calling you today on the number on the website but it just rang and rang.

Cheers.

Matt.

If you are worried about noise they do an RX cat back which has the same awesome sound with slightly less volume.

Wouldn't get one at all. Loads of noise and just makes people think 'chav' rather than 'nice car'.

The flat four noise should be a rumble not make your teeth fall out. Clear to see from the number of people who have them that would find it over bearing for day to day use. If its too much and its your car then its by far too much for everyone else.

The bung thing is just daft. What's the point of getting a free flowing exhaust then having to restrict it with a bung? Better off etting something that unleashes the ponies, a nice sound and can be run all the time (IMHO)

You've a good point there regarding the restriction of the pipe with the bung. In some ways I've regretted getting the Nur spec due to this but on the other hand it's still making 335bhp, which is quick enough for me on ther road. Plus a lot of people say the car sounds really well with the bung in, its a really sharp noise when it comes on boost.

In my case with the bung out it could be sooo overbearing due to the type R's having little in the way of sound deadening

I had the standard scoobyworld system and it was fine. bit of noise but not offensive at all.

I had it mapped for the car and it all went well. If i was running real performance and i had the car mapped for a free flow system i wouldn't like to keep stopping it up all the time because you are changing the parameters that the ecu is expecting.

Most back boxes will produce the same benefits for unleashing horses, especially when mapped. You could of course have a custom one done if you fancied...
