Are dump valves chavvy?
Im thinking about getting one put on but dont wanna be thought of as a chav. Are they chavvy or is it an ok mod to have?
Will it instantly make me wear tracksuit bottoms with my socks tucked into my rockports and make me wear gold chains on the outside of my top
Any thoughts?

This debate will go on for ages!
I personally dont mind them, I have an SSQV on my scooby but it was on when I got the car.
I actually removed mine once andfound that the car drove worse with it removed, so I put it back on.
Anyway who cares what others think, it would be a boring world if everything was the same!

modern scooby modding is getting to the point that whatever you want to fit nowadays there will be 30 people telling you not to lol.
rally graphics are out, dump valves are out, turbo timers are out, angel eyes are out,and spoilers are out.
the only thing worthwhile is suspension and engine work
i must admit though, all the things i used to think looked good,i now hate

Indeed, get one if you like the sound .... just be prepared for the pedestrians pointing at you and laughing - you could wear a mask, I suppose? Will the mask fit under the backward worn baseball cap??
Anyway, the question was whether they were chavvie - they are.

Does it improve performance? No.
Does it improve durability? No.
Does it improve looks? No.
Does it imrpove fuel economy ( economy on a Impreza? LOL )? No.
Does it offer anything over the original factory valve other than noise (unless running over 500bhp)? No.
Therefore waste of money
Wasting money on needless items? as Chavvy as chunky low quality gold(ish) jewelry.
Seeing someone mentioned Supras, that makes an interesting point of contention; Finding one thats actually not been ruined and trashed by stupid mods done by previous owners (in UK or Japan) makes a straight original one in good nick rare as hens teeth (Same with RX7s). Thankfully unmolested Imprezas aren't so rare, although its still a task tracking down a good one.
