Ordered my 7th Scooby
#1
In an bad attempt to stay ahead of Dave T-S (2 at a time) and to justify my SIDC membership, I ordered my UK STI today for delivery next week
Sold the M3 for some stupid reason this week thinking I'd buy a sensible car. That lasted about 12 hours after the M3 left. Shortlisted two cars -
modified S3 and the UK STI. Think the EVO VII is far too expensive, flawed for everyday use and lacking the character of the Scooby so that was eliminated very early on.
Anyway gone for a black blue rather than another WR Blue.
Had to share it. Its going to be a long weeks wait

Good for you!
BTW, how was the M3? I had a small trashing competition in my WRX with an M3. Didn't notice anything special... when we really were to go head to head side by side waiting for green the M3 chickened out and turned away
He did have two mates in the car and knew the battle would have ended badly for him

Took on an M3 (new shape) in my stock P1 a few weeks ago around Bracknell (heading for A309M). I had an obvious advantage from stop at a roundabout, but the M3 kicks bloody **** mid range. You're gona have to get some serious mods on the go if you want to get back to that kind of power.

In true Chins fashion the next car is pretty much on order for Sept or Dec . Back to an M3. Probably returning when the next Special comes out .
I know esp after driving my M3 (new shape with SMGII) back to back with a P1 and UK STI that no Scooby will keep up in the mid range/high end unless it has some serious mods. None of the Scoobies Ive owned inc the P1 and modified STI V felt as quick to 3 figures, esp when on the roll. None have sounded as good as an M3 either. But the Scoobies exhaust note with a SS back box is a pretty good subsitute .
Look forward to taking the front diff to its limits

Jon, looks like I won my bet with the salesmen at Adams then
And if your looking for that seriously modded scooby that could stay with your old M3 (actually chew it up and spit it out as a starter) look no further

What kind of mods are you thinking of? Are you getting the Prodrive (body !!!) version?
I'm gona take an STI Prodrive round a track this weekend. After a P1, am I going to be dispointed or what?

Is the M3 worth the difference ? (12k). Yes IMHO. I'm certainly going to miss Leather Electric Seats, Xenon Headlights, Decent HiFi etc. Couple this to a car that holds its value well. I lost 2k in 4 months and 4,000 miles. Go try seeing how much you lose on a brand new Mondeo in the same time period .
Ive gone for a Prodrive version. Dont intend to do any major mods, unless I keep it longer. Hope you enjoy a drive on the track in the STI. It might not feel as quick due to the extra refinement. If youve got the bottle to ignore the initial understeer, you should find it quicker in the corners.
Tim
Why should I worry about a car from a guy that uses Alegro bits to tune his car . The same guys mods usually lose him power . I'd even fancy my chances in the wifes 1.4 Polo . Who did you have the bet with ?

Right, M3 goes from 50MPH upwards past but I was in the ouskirts of the town more or less accelerating between traffic lights from 0 - 40Mph
M3 Had 2+1 guys in it also so it was nomatch... also, on wett/icy road and there is no competition. At warrenders they tested a 320BHP STi and the M3: Times from 0-100-0MPH Subaru:16.48s BMW M3: 17.04s

Unless youve driven the new shape M3 in the wet you will not know how good it is. I took mine out on a wet bedford SIDC track day. Through the corners I didnt lose anything - EVO VI's inc. My car had just been run in, so was taking it fairly gently. People were passing me, but not due to deficiencies of the M3. I was there enjoying myself. I certainly was no slower in the corners in the wet on my home roads in the M3 vs any of my other Scoobies.
Hippy and Yex have just been test driving the M3 One has converted, not sure about the other one.
If finances permitted, I'd run an STI and an M3 Cab. Just need 6 numbers

Officially jelous! Wish I was in a position to say, 'hmm getting bored of the M3, think I'll trade her for something better' I love the M3 so much, never driven one but I want one for looks and comforts alone. And I've seen one go....briefly, then he was gone!

know what u mean dizzy, just fancied something a bit more useable on a daily basis, and handles supremely safely in the wet.
why an evo? because with a few 'tweeks' here n there, larrrrrrggge bhp can be had....and less engine probs than a scooby.
all in a car that weighs significantly less than a skyline, is smaller, more nimble, and permanent awd. more idiot proof i spose, as i'm a crap driver

Always said Medics had no taste
Ian
Susanne got the sale in the end
Dave T-S
I'll go away and do a recount of my cars . Although one of the guys on the M3 bbs makes us look like amateurs.

Glad to hear it jonathan, you can now now join the 'you must be mad' club,
**Why get rid of that and go down to one of them !!!**
Believe me, I'm still getting it said to me now...
Send me an email, as my dealer's phoned me this morning with some
interesting non-prodrive or non-SS mods.
