Default My Scooby is sick and no one knows why :(

As the car get warmer the noise coming from the front sounds worse an worse.. it starts off like a rubbing, like rubber on rubber then seems to get louder and more "everywhere" it was to the right to begin with..

After 15 minutes its cracking and making some weird noises...

Three garages .. two very good Scooby Garages and no one can find out whats wrong..

Wheels off brakes taken apart, no play in anything...

WTF ?

Anyone suggest?

I've had wheel bearings do this, no play in them but once they're loaded and rolling, they make a terrible noise.

PM sent, cheers.

It gets louder as the car heats up .. and is much worse when cornering...

Does appear to be revealed by pressing clutch, but only sometimes..

get the crank pulley checked because it runs the power steering belts and it may feel fine but the belts need to come off to check if its tight

It now sounds like someone wheel wise.. its like a rubbing now, a grinding that changes with the speed of the car.

The garage that looked at it before is taking it back Saturday, they're a good place so hopefully... if not I have PPPs mate.

Could it be a stone caught between the rear of the disc and the disc protector?

Could be either of the above, strangely its not there all the time though and is worse when you've given the car some beans or been driving a while.. heat ??

If a wheel bearing has gone, lift on a four post and run it in gear...

The wheel will "wobble" visibly at speed.

HTH

Exactly what i was gonna suggest.
My front diff went recently and was making the symptoms you have said.
It started off with just a rubbing noise which got louder and louder. I too thought wheel bearings so changed them from where the sound was coming from. Didnt make a differance.
Then I got a grating sound every now and again and the inside rear wheel would skip when turning.
Since it was the rear wheels skipping I thought it was the rear diff, so I changed that too. That still dodnt solve the problem!
It wasnt until the front diff exploded that the problem was cured!
It cost me a new gearbox and propshaft in the end!
