Default Brake problem in cold - normal??

This morning I drove out of my estate, up the road, went to stop at the junction and basically struggled!!! The brakes felt like they weren't really there.

Anyone else had this problem? The car has been sat for a few days, surrounded by snow and icy conditions, but I've never had a car do this before.

I guess the best way to describe it, is that it felt like brake fade. I've got a 2002 wrx.

Default Brakes

I had exactly the same symptoms after my MY99 UK turbo had been sitting in a couple of feet of snow. It's just the pads and discs icing over and as soon as they have been activated a couple of times the heat generated dries them out.

First time it happened I was reaching for the bicycle clips but a couple of firm brake presses soon has them working again.
