Default exhaust help please

Should be easy but I'm having real trouble finding an OE back box for my MkII 1998 Legacy 2.5GX Estate...

Done loads of searches and found S/S options for loads of dosh I can't afford now I'm on the unemployment scrapheap.

Can't even find if the back box is the same as, for example, the 2.2 equivalent, or an Impreza wagon and so on.

If anyone can help me track down a back box for reasonable pennies, I'd be most grateful.

Dave

Hello Mate

If you are having problems why not try a custom made one like i have from Exhausts UK up in sheffield they will make one especially for your car so it will be a perfect fit plus you have a lifetime warranty, plenty of people have them on here and like me are very happy, give them a call

Regards

Nick

thanks Nick but a custom box will cost a lot of money I can't afford - and the car is 12 years old and worth only £500. Even OE boxes probably cost more than £100 but if that's what it takes ... but only if I can find one!

A spare bit of exhaust pipe and 20 minutes with a MIG welder, to make an Impreza one fit

thanks AaronB - but all these are for the wrong model. What I have found (so far) is that the MkII and MkIII 2.5 legacy estates are different to the rest of the range. My local garage had a huge problem finding a back box for another 2.5 MkIII recently - none of the manufacturers/suppliers could help him. Think he ended up going down the S/S route after considering a mix 'n' match based on an Impreza (though he didn't have the parts bin that Steven's probably got!!!!). The owner obviously thought it was worth a few hundred quid... (or, more likely, had little choice).

Mine ain't too bad yet - it squeezed through the MoT in December - but it's clearly on the way out so I posted to get the ball rolling. Should have guessed Mr D would have an answer...
