Default Idiot Question

Hi All, quite a silly question really but i came to service my bugeye today and found a big guard under the car. Does it all have to be removed to get to the sump plug? thanks

My classic has the gaurd, but there is a bit cut out (as standard) so you can get a socket in to loosen it.
