I put a Prodrive sports Cat, STI decat up pipe and afterburner vortex on my 03 WRX and had an open source remap from Andrew Carr. The car did around 284bhp and 305lb/ft. The results where amazing.

Andy.

Filter, fuel pump and intercooler hose. I think that's pretty much all the parts of the PPP for the WRX and should see you at about 265. The sportscat should see you through the MOT.

A walbro 255 fuel pump is worth it from a safety point of view for £70 or so but not essential.

Sports cat will get you through the mot.

A 3 port solenoid helps on older wrx's as the actuator on that wrx is very weak and it helps boost control.

I guess yours is a 97/98 then stephen.

The bugeye wrx is a slightly different proposition but principles still apply.

Prodrive sports cat + good exhaust + panel filter + poss pump + poss 3 port + remap should get you to around 270bhp if run on vpower or tesco 99.

My standard 02 WRX was turning out 220 BHP / 215 lb ft torque with V-power. H&S system, de-cat pipe (not down pipes too) and a Cosworth panel filter tipped it to 233 BHP / 219 lb ft torque. Re-map next month should prove interesting.

Mine has decat up-pipe, Prodrive sports cat, decat centre pipe, samco intercooler hoses + panel filter. Remapped by Andy F to 287BHP / 307 lb ft torque.

My standard 02 WRX was turning out 220 BHP / 215 lb ft torque with V-power.

Hayward & Scott back box and centre section with a Cosworth panel filter tipped it to 233 BHP / 219 lb ft torque and felt a little more ready to pull

Addition of de-cat pipe (not down pipes) took it to 236 BHP / 220 lb ft torque and spool up was better. Jamie, it still passes the MoT with all this.

Re-map has just taken it to 263 BHP / 260 lb ft, so yes a remap is well worth it. The engine pulls about the same up to 3,000 / 3,250, then changes character completely.

Pumps more fuel than the standard pump. If there's a lack of fuel, you're in the ****.

Easy to do. Normally located under the rear seat (well on a classic it is) Always a good idea to up rate your fuel pump. Things tend to go wrong other wise.

Norman Dog - no, just the one in the section before the main exhaust run under the car. Doing the up pipes would help me get closer to the joyous numbers you're quoting.

I've heard that the fuel pump isn't an issue until I uprate the injectors and/or the turbo. At which point the aforementioned additional de-cat will be needed too.
Start saving the pennies again ;-)

I've eventually got around to doing the up pipe and a remap - 270 BHP and 268lb/ft.
Same lump, but way off your numbers Norman Dog.
