What do you want to measure ?

Charge temp of the air as it goes into the cylinders (the temp being raised by the air going through the turbo.......)

Charles's law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

or the temp of the air as it passes over the MAF (Inlet temps)

Depends how **** you want to be as i was discussing with several other members on here on another Thread.

i have this setup, its not intended to be within 0.3 accurate etc,but a rough enough guide to know whats going on

Cost under £10,got this unit from japan, its powered by the 12v system of the car not an AA battery like my last unit

The Rig,

Thanks for the picture. I am fitting a ACT to my car when it arrives from Harvey.

Same as me it will be used on a TMIC. Wasn't sure where to put it as most are on FMIC set up.

Cheers
Steve

There are alot of temp readers out there but its the Refresh rate you need, alot are 5 seconds 10 seconds which isnt any good, the one i have is 2 second refresh rate which is the bare minimum really,i would like a 1 second refresh rate but couldnt find one at the time.

It depends how much you want to spend, mine was £10 in total, there is a charge temp reader out there for £25-£30 but i didnt want to spend this and it is a 1 second refresh rate

I feel mugged off here.

Paid Harvey £80 for one that still hasn't arrived (maybe de to the Postman not coming?)

£80 when you can get them for £10> Better work ok then for £80.

I dropped Harvey a mail a few days ago and his wife replied after a while saying sorry for not replying sooner but he has been ill - maybe he has a bit of a backlog to catch up on?

As an aside, she wasn't able to answer my question of what comes in the kit that he supplies - I'm planning to plug it into the rubber connector between the intercooler and the throttle body and was wondering if I need to buy an insert to put the probe in. When your kit arrives could you pm / post what was in it? Cheers

That appears to be the best one, I understood it refreshes 3times per second, also that R&B Motorsport do them and that they market the scoobyone through Harvey. I stand to be corrected on both points.
If it's monitoring charge temps then I'd want it to be proven and accurate

im sure the £80 is much better, cycling more often etc,as i said at the start, depends on how accurate you want to be and if you plan on changing anything if temps are high, not much point in spending near £100 to get spot on results if your not going to change anything,i bought the cheaper one as i had the old style slanted TMIC and upgraded to a 2003 TMIC and even with my cheaper one noticed a difference, but if your going to spend £80 on one i guess you can afford to then upgrade intake system parts hee hee if not happy with the readings

I use one of these with there 12v adaptor. Think refresh is about 1-2 seconds.
You have to extend the probe wires but this isnt a major job.

Thanks for the pictures

Looks as though one part of the brass fitting screws into the other? Also how snugly does the probe fit through the brass fittings (i.e. you put the brass fittings in place and the probe is happy just fitting through them)

God I sounded a dick earlier. Sorry lack of sleep,an ill misses and two ill kids with the same bug so was being a little emotional.

Didn't mean for it to come across like that. So sorry to Harvey if your readin this chap.

I also had an email from Harvey's wife that he is ill at present. Was supposed to get the ACT by Friday's post but like most in the UK it's most likely still at the sorting office.

The top part of the brass fitting is a compression type with a brass olive that seals around the probe.
