Default downpipe heat wrapped - have i done it right..?

hi

heat wrapped my downpipe today, never done it before.

what do you think? hope it doesnt come off.

does it look right? wasnt sure how to go around the bracket..

and 2 metal (CV boot) zip ties on both ends to ensure it doesnt come off..

going to fit it tomorrow

cheers

Looks good, but I think I would have wrapped as much as possible at the top as that's where it needs it the most?

I would just of wrapped the bellmouth end down past bracket to first bend about 3 ply, the rest is under the car. Just my opinion.

It will be fine Eddy. You can always add some more wrapping at the top part later. Just doing that bit will be okay (ish) to do on the car.

Its good practice to wrap if your changing the down pipe as its close to the I/C and you don't want heat soak to take place. As standard the down pipe has got a heat shield and this is normal taken off when the pipe is changed.

Hot gases also flow better than cooler ones. I wrapped the exhaust on my Cosworth to by the rear wheels I would have wrapped it further but it catches on the ground when the car squats

the way you have wrapted the wire around, i would say it would be best to tie off each time you loop round with locking plires, so if you catch the DP the hole lot wont fall off

thats a good point, harvey mentioned that to me, i just forgot to take the instructions with me like a spaz when i wrapped it..

ive got plenty of wrap left over, i'll add a few more of those metal zip ties and if it comes off, just do it again later like that, should be fine
