Question FMIC: to mesh, or not?

Just how delicate are they? Do folk mesh them for protection, or not?

Mine has mesh on, does 2 things, 1. protects from stones, 2. makes it look very discreet

They catch alot of dead flies up there Pete and you have a big stone catcher on the bonnet
Mine had a few bent fins by the time it came to her 1k service (classic)

On top of a baking hot engine and with bonnet aerodynamics that mean that it's really not working all that efficiently at M'way speeds

That scoop does look good though!

My FMIC is exposed as I like the look of it (inner boy racer?) and I couldn't be bothered to have it mesh fronted. It's probably wise to havee a protective layer of mesh in front of it to stop it getting dinged by any big debris that might get churned up at speed, though.

Two and a half years down the line and my Hybrid still looks in good shape!

Pretty but not needed IMHO, mine has only one "ding" after three years and it's not big enough to notice, even if it's clean....

Mate, if that's a hybrid, it's hanging too low. It should not be visible at the bottom IYSWIM

Are you sure it's fitted correctly?
