I think your asking for trouble buying an Sti for £1500, it will probably cost you treble that in a year.
Could be lucky though and pick up a good one, I personally wouldn't take the chance but then again I'm crap on the tools.

lOOks too much of a gamble to me. Only done 9k miles and had a lot replaced. Engine bay looks tatty (what's going on with the intercooler?).
It's not been converted to MPH either. There's better out there IMO.

As above a bit of a gamble imho - says its an STI import, but its got UK spec rear lights, if its only done 57k miles then shouldn't have needed replacement turbo or injectors either i wouldn't have thought. I would keep looking

not to sure on ther aearly models myslef but the dash has a platic indicator pannel inbetween the rev and speedo is that not a automatic gearing pannel?
as the door light, handbrake and seat belt are on the top and the rear mist light at the bottom which i assume ahs engine cheack light, oil light with that so the centre indicator pannel has to be the automatic gearbox lights for park , reverse etc, i might be wrong though
plus never heard of an sti sport special? sure its not a sport with an sti engine fitted?

Scooby546 : not all sti have the clear sti rear lights my version 2 555 sti has the same style as the uk rear lights. I think the may have got the clear version from version 3 onwards.
Stevie1982 : the indicator panel you mention is for the DCCD.

just checked this on my vrm at work linked to dvla
comes up no differently than my old m plate imported car
its a jap import
registered on 1/12/05
speedo looks like its still in km still so done 91000 which is 57k miles
i think makes it a v2sti
wheels correct for that version as well as the spoiler
also angled intercooler is correct for year just looks like its past its best.

Hi, dont trust the MID, i know first experience,,
It will only display what the owner declares the model as, (in some cases)
One of my skylines came back as a 2,0 auto non turbo, when i bought it,
when i insured it , it was corrected,
good luck

I seen an ad many months ago with someone selling a sti sport, when i asked him is it a sport or sti as a sport is a non turbo, the reply i got was 'it says sport on the V5'. So its more than likely been registered that way in the UK and the guy doesnt know much about subaru's to think any differently.

Well i think its more like 157000, would never contemplate a car like that, seems good to start and cheap but like most of the guys say on here, if it seems too good to be true then probably is, get what you pay for these days. good luck in finding one though

I was half tempted in this until I got these answers to my questions:
Dear p.defender,
Hi again mate. I would ring but it's a bit late.
What will you take to end the auction early? Bearing in mind you wont have to pay the ebay final valuation fee.
I've got a few questions that would need answering before I came to visit:
What make are the tyres? What tread is left?
How much life in the pads and discs?
Do you have the receipts for the parts replaced? & were they new?
What make is the boost controller? & What boost do you run?
Many thanks
Tim
I will take 2200 last for it. I will check the tyres and let u know tomorrow if u call me coz now the car is in my gurage. To be honest i havent got a clue what tyres it has. It still has the tyres it came with when imported from japan. I have no receipts for the work carried out. But my local gurage has it in their system. I can ask them tomorrow and get u a copy of the service history, I have never touched the boost controler. Its just showing some figures and havent got a clue what it does. how should i check the boost figure. All i do is start it and drive 3 - 4 times a year. All the parts i have replaced was new.
Not knowing the tyres I can live with. But being 4 years old I'd imagine there not great!
Why the **** wouldn't you have S/H? Any garage will give you a receipt for the parts even if it is a cash job as they'd have to get the parts from elsewhere. The person he'd see from the garage is more than likely a computer guy of his that will knock up some paperwork, I mean how would he know the garage has it on there system?
The boost controller fills me with confidence as well. One that I'll leave for someone else I think, not that desperate to take the chance.
