If its a MY01 STI then it wont be a UK car, it will be a JDM import as the UK STI's didnt come out until 2002.
In which case it will be a VF30 no doubt, if it were a MY02 UK STI then it will probably be a VF35, only JDM MY01/02 RA's and Spec C's (plus the S202) had VF34's.

Wont be an MY01 car then, look behind the drivers side visor, in english or japanese?
Also does it have electric mirrors and an auto I/C spray button? (and check the registration date on the V5
)
