Default "Snapoff" steering wheel hub

Any one use one of these a security aid?

I am tempted but they bring the steering wheel closer to the driver I believe, Anyone know how much by?

Pics please if you use one

I've got a sparco snap off steering wheel on my 2002 bug eye. The hub brings the wheel about an inch closer to you but it not that noticeable after driving a few times. Fitting wasn't much of a problem but i did have to have the hub machined as it was rubbing on the plastic ignition surround. I will try and post some pic's later today.

I had one on my Pug years a go - the adaptor i had to fit brought the wheel 2-3" closer to me. The anoying thing was that the indicator stalks were that far away too
