Default Prodrive settings worth it ??

Hi I was wondering if it worth having the prodrive set up on my car its still on standard shocks and springs, I get heavy wear on the outside of the front tyres so I'm guessing it will help this.I have been quoted £110 from my local Subaru dealer which looks good to me, car is a hawkeye STI Spec D.
Any comments welcome

Have you been to a Subaru specialist and got a quote from them.

Should be around half the price he was quoted from the dealer.

The settings do not improve on tyre wear but do improve the handling the price you pay.

No I haven't! I suppose what I'm saying is, Is it worth getting the settings done on standard shocks and springs
I'm also thinking that a Subaru specialist would not have the rights to install the Prodrive settings ???

I get wear to the outside of the front tyres only which seems unusual to me? I have had the tracking checked which was spot on.

Always worth having good geo done wether it's prodrive, OE or other fast road. Mine is now more aggressive than Prodrive therefore increased wear but also increased grip! In Surrey I'd get yourself to Greenwood Racing Developments, or over to Dave at Gatwick Subaru both will be cheaper than the £110!

A specialist will set the car to fast road spec, which is very similar to the Prodrive settings. It will make a big difference to the way your car handles and steers. I'd change your rear ARB to a 22/ 24 Whiteline with solid droplinks , if you haven't already , beforethe geometry setup. Bob

Same car as you mate but I have the Prodrive springs on mine. I got my car set up at a fraction of that cost with a specialist local to me when the springs went on and it made a great difference to the ride. I'd sort the springs too if I was you as I found the standard ones gave a bit too much roll and "bounce" when at cruising speeds.

A year later I had the rear anti roll bar upgraded and drop links all around and that made it even better. It is like a go cart now

Forgot to add, my RE070s (if that is what you are still running) made 14k miles on standard set up and they wore evenly. I did rotate them half way through their life.

Thanks for all the feed back guys With all that info I'm definitely going to get a fast road set up done just need to see where from maybe the Gatwick place which was suggested I would love to get the prodrive springs but money is so tight at the mo anyone know cost to supply and fit (must be the prodrive ones). I think I will also go for this 22mm ARB, again does anyone know cost and where to get one ?? Not sure about the rear drop links I have heard they can be noisy which is the last thing I want
a16pse quotes that the STI all ready have good drop links (solid)can this be confirmed
Sorry for the questions but don't know a lot about suspension and its nice to hear all the feed back with people using standard shocks

For the 24 mm bar, with solid droplinks, around £275 fitted. There's a touch more noise, only really noticeable when you hoof it from a junction with plenty of lock on.

No, that was completely standard suspension wise. They could have went further as still had legal tread left but I could feel them beginning to let go in the bends, especially at the back. I now have Eagle F1 Assymetricals and they are a far better road tyre IMHO.

For dealer to supply and fit Prodrive springs I think you'll be looking at circa £450.

You may find the actual fitting cheaper at a specialist though - springs themselves are around £230ish IIRC.

The other thing is if you ask most tuning companies do i need this that and the other their answer will more than likely be yes, they like to sell you parts as that makes them money and plenty of it, just remember that, that is why i use my good freind at prodrive as i get an unbiest opinion, another good person to speak to is simon from a company called CHEVRON MOTORSPORT who are based in stafford, he is one of the most honest and desent mechanics out there and awsome at setting up fast road and rally cars, tell him steve from nottingham put you on to him , he wont want to sell you anything he will just put you in the right direction and hes great bloke to talk to, hope this helps mate , cheers steve.

Thanks a16pse some great advise there, If its good enough for Prodrive its good enough for me I'm going for a 22mm whiteline rear arb and a fast road set up. I just need to decide where to have it done? Is it an easy job to change the bar ?? Anyone done it ???

to change the bar took me about half an hour best to spray all the bolts with some WD 40 the night before makes it a lot easier, i have found chevron are the best at setting up your geomatory, they will fit you extended camber bolts so you can get more negative camber and my god it will corner beyond beleif mate all in including bolts and laser set up will be around £ 200 but its well worth it . like i say speak to simon tell him i sent you im sure he will look after you his number is 01785 223336 or take a look at his website chevronmotorsport.co.uk has been registered, cheers steve.
