impreza wagon boot space?

impreza wagon boot space?
I'm currently driving around in a 2003 WRX saloon, but the lack of boot space is really doing my head in.
How "long" bits can you fit into the boot of a wagon?
E.g. I buy bits of steel RHS that are about 2.5m long, would they fit into the car? At the moment, I have to drive the wife's clio to pick the RHS (have it sitting sideways and into the front passenger foot well - just fits!
I also need to transport sheets that are up to 2 x 1 m large - possible or definitely a no go?

no idea on actual length... not too shabby with te seats forward, you can get an exhaust system in for sure... you can also get 4x17" alloys with tyres in the boot. The design is interesting. Because of the wheel arches you end up with a nice space to put things in that still gives you the majority of the boot to play with.
The load space is easier to get to and the roof higher but the overall width of the car and space from drivers seat to the end of the boot would be th same as the saloon i'd think...
not sure if any of that ramble will help at all...

Another car wont fit on the drive, unfortunately, so a van, although ideal for my hobby projects, is out of the question at the moment
Thanks for the info on the subaru boot as well. I think I need to go and have a look at one in person. Good point about the length - didn't think of that myself
Alternatively, I might get rid of the subaru if the wife lets me and buy a big swedish estate That would solve the problem of the impreza's pitiful towing weights as well
