ive got a wrx wagon wen i start it it ticks over spot on when i drive it and temp goes half way wen i put my foot down it misses and backfires wat could this be

you won't really if its happening @ revs without a fault code reader. get a new coil pack and do a "one by one" swap and try method.

where can i get coil packs from new but not from a dealer

a good subaru breaker. Grade a subaru breakers are fairly good guys.
